Probation and Parole

Probation and Parole: Corrections in the Community, 13th Edition, is a textbook designed for academic courses in community corrections, probation, and parole. It presents a comprehensive overview of the field by incorporating agency practices from across the United States.

The text examines the historical evolution of community supervision, tracing the shift away from indeterminate sentencing and rehabilitation toward determinate sentencing models centered on offender control and law enforcement.

Drawing on real-world correctional experience, the volume explores how these institutional shifts influence probation and parole officers. It considers how changing administrative policies and supervision models reshape the responsibilities of community supervision personnel across criminal and juvenile justice contexts.
