Social Theory

_Social Theory: Roots & Branches_, 6th Edition, is an anthology edited by Peter J. Kivisto designed for social theory coursework. The volume brings together primary source readings to bridge foundational classical roots with contemporary branches, demonstrating how classical sociological ideas connect conceptually to subsequent theoretical perspectives.

The collection pairs classical foundational writings with works by theorists outside the discipline and writers frequently omitted from competing anthologies. Coverage also addresses major contemporary theoretical paradigms alongside modern directions in theoretical discourse.

To support course instruction, questions at the conclusion of each section provide practical frameworks intended to help instructors frame lectures and guide classroom discussions.
