Sociological Theory

Sociological Theory, 11th Edition, is a textbook that surveys major traditions in sociological thought leading into the twenty-first century. The volume helps students understand central theoretical perspectives across the development of the discipline.

The text combines theoretical explanations with biographical sketches of theorists, placing key arguments within their historical and intellectual settings. This approach clarifies how specific social environments shaped foundational and modern inquiries.

To broaden historical perspectives, the 2022 edition incorporates examples of premodern sociological theory from an Islamic scholar.
