Leadership

Leadership: A Critical Text, 3rd Edition, is a textbook by Simon Western that deconstructs and reconstructs leadership paradigms. The volume challenges popular notions of individual hero leaders, presenting leadership instead as a distributed process.

Grounded in European Enlightenment dialectics and Critical Theory shaped by the Frankfurt School, the text draws on networked theory, social movement theory, and psychoanalysis. Western uses these frameworks to help leaders act ethically and implement organizational change.

The 2019 edition features shorter chapters and more transparent argumentation than previous editions, supported by updated case studies that address contemporary political figures and organizations.
