Race and Ethnicity

Race and Ethnicity: Sociology in Action, 2nd Edition, is a sociology textbook that examines how race and ethnic relations shape social structures and institutional power.

The volume analyzes institutional racism across the political system, the economy, and education, while connecting systemic inequality to international histories of empire and colonialism. It also surveys the distinct histories of specific communities, including Black Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and multiracial populations.

To support active study, the textbook incorporates discussion questions, active learning exercises, real-world examples of sociologists in action, and information on sociology careers.
